Burlap Squirrel Pillow

Burlap Squirrel Pillow

by Vicki O’Dell

These squirrels are adorable for Fall, but consider changing it up for other seasons. How about bunnies for a spring pillow? Or, spray paint a snowman for winter.

General Supplies

  • Burlap, two pieces cut to 15” x 15”
  • Pillow form, 14” x 14”, or fiberfill
  • Sewing machine
  • Painter’s tape
  • Newspaper
  • Stencil film or vinyl
  • Straight pins
  1. Cut the stencil film or vinyl with desired images.
  2. Place in the center of the burlap fabric and adhere.
  3. Mask off all areas you do not want painted with tape and newspaper.
  4. Spray the open area with Krylon® ColorMaster™ in Brown Boots.
  5. Allow to dry and then add more coats as necessary.
  6. Let dry and remove masking.
  7. Pin the two pieces of burlap right sides together. Stitch with a 1/2 inch seam allowance and leave an opening in the bottom to allow for the pillow form or stuffing to be inserted.
  8. Turn right side out.
  9. Fill with desired filler.
  10. Whip stitch the bottom closed.

Designer’s Tip:

You may wish to stitch the sides of the pillow a couple of times since burlap frays easily.
