The 2018 Krylon® Clear Choice Art Scholarship campaign resulted in nearly 100 qualified submissions.
The talent represented in reviewed portfolios is quite impressive, making annual judging increasingly
difficult.
Five recipients have received a $1,000 scholarship to the college of their choice, as well as a package of
Krylon® artist products. The scholarship recipients’ high schools art programs also received a
$500 grant and Krylon artist products, from which multiple students will benefit.
An additional ten students received Krylon product packages valued at $70 each and their high school art
programs received product packages valued at $250 each.

My approach to art is something I see within my everyday life. There is no escaping my
personal fondness for this craft whether it's visually or interpretively.
Madeleine Wick

Art has given me the freedom to express myself as the vivid and eccentric person I am deep
down when I couldn't find the words to do so. Being an artist has given me so many fulfilling
opportunities that I don't think I would have experienced if I didn't create.
Jie Qi Yan
College: California State University of Fullerton
Hometown: Garden Grove, CA
Each work represents a meaning, a memory or a dream of a child. Children are our future,
they are the possibilities and potential of our humanity. My work concentrates on the lives of
children.
Lauren Vroegindewey
College: Montclair State University
Hometown: North Haledon, NJ
I want to convey a message through art to express yourself, stay passionate, and keep
stoking the fire within. I believe it is the responsibility of artists to tell the complicated
stories; to not be silent about many injustices happening in the world.
Roberta Rupinski
College: Kendall College of Art and Design
Hometown: Clinton Township, MI
The way colors and shapes work together to become a piece of artwork intrigued me. How value
and color worked together to add contrast and brights to artwork made me curious of how to push and
pull objects into an image. Art combined with my curiosity of the human body caused me to make a goal
to create accurate art work that was pleasing to look at but with the purpose of educating.
